Step 1 – Conduct EICR on current electrical installation – this will determine if the upgrade works can go ahead as planned or if other issues need to be addressed first.
please note if there are issues that prevent upgrade progress we will inform you in writing of what is required and any additional costs.
Step 2 – Isolation of power and removal of old consumer unit.
Step 3 – Installation of 18th edition Amd2 RCD protected Consumer Unit with SPD. We would also install a new means of isolation for the entire installation at this point.
Step 4 – 100% testing of all accessible points.
Step 5 – Re-energise all circuits, final testing and issuing of EIC & Building compliance certificate.
There are lots of options when deciding to upgrade your consumer unit. Should I move it? Can I add more circuits? Can i separate out more circuits?

Typically an EICR will take around 3-4 hours to complete, depending on the size of a property and the number of circuits requiring testing.
A satisfactory certificate is not guaranteed.
